Cool People Doing Cool Things: For the Makers

So I love coming up with a DIY project or four, but it’s not something I’m able to do all the time. Many times I don’t have the materials I need, don’t want to pay for the materials I need (like why buy something crazy you’re only going to use once!) or just don’t have the time.

Insert my sister’s wonderful Christmas present to me: a three-month subscription to “For the Makers.”

For the Makers is a monthly subscription service (kind of like Birchbox) where for $29 a month you can get the supplies to make four wonderful, beautiful useful crafts sent directly to your door. This satiates my crafty desires but doesn’t force me to dish out hundreds at AC Moore.

I made a cute winestopper and a fun deco necklace…

but had the most fun making this little watercolors desk calendar.

Now the funny thing here was that the directions on the site joked, “Would your sister love you if you painted 12 kittens for her to keep on her desk at work? Probably.” And so that’s exactly what I did. Because my sister would LOVE it.

Anyway, of course I instagrammed it and For the Makers responded! While a social media girl myself, it is still always fun to get a response.

I hope you check out For the Makers and consider joining on your own. While I know you won’t need to, you are able to cancel anytime. So test it out!

  1. Awesome! Love the cat calendar. I’m definitely going to check out For the Makers. I’ve been meaning to sign up for one of those monthly box services, mostly just so I have something to look forward to receiving in the mail each month without shopping at Anthro online…eek$!

    1. Definitely check it out! I get birchbox, too. Having something to look forward to in the mail is awesome! And a little less expensive than an Anthro addiction. Excited to see what January crafts I get to make!
