5 Pairs of Shoes Every Girl Needs in Her Closet

While choosing only five shoes was a daunting task I hope I never have to do again, I wanted to be very specific in my choices to help other ladies find the gap that might be looming in their own shoe rack.

These of course translate well to my personal style (preppy, more brown than black, and fairly casual) and may not be appropriate for everyone.

1- The wedge bootie

I wore these all fall and winter last year (at least when it wasn’t snowing). They are comfortable to be worn walking around all day, and cute enough to make me feel a little trendy in the winter months when I just wanted to wear wool socks. They’ve been stashed away all summer- but I’m excited for their return.

These were found at Aldo last year.

2- The nude pump

I took a good year trying to find the perfect nude pump and I’m glad I waited it out, because while you can’t see the heel, it’s around 2.5″- THE PERFECT HEEL HEIGHT. I wear these out sometimes, but mostly to work because they were the perfect pair to many of my summer and spring work dresses and skirts. You may think you don’t need a nude heel… until you have one.

These were found at DSW in 2010.

3- The leopard flat

These little tuxedo flats are quite in this season, but the shape of the shoe doesn’t matter quite so much as the pattern. Leopard print shoes bring a little flavor to ANY outfit, whether it be black, brown, blue or striped. These are my favorite for effortless wear-to-anywhere style.

Target, a few months ago.

4- The black pump

This shoe has saved my outfit on multiple occasions. Classic, easy to walk in, and always professional, it is my safety net when I don’t know what other shoe to wear. Sure, the black pump is playing it safe,  but sometimes, in my opinion, safe fashion is smart fashion.

Nine West, years ago.

5- The strappy wedge

Because I live in Boston, I find I don’t often wear stilettos out. Ever. Cobblestone roads are just too common. These wedges were a summer pick up and a pair I believe I’ll be using for years to come.

DSW, this summer. (They are Guess shoes).

What would you have added to the list?
