The Wait is Over!

Finally, FINALLY I have some good news to share in the job search category.

I’ve been interviewing quite frequently over the last few weeks and I have been offered (and am taking!) a full-time, paid internship as a Search Marketing Intern for a company in Boston. The position has everything that I was looking for in a position- continued training, a good atmosphere, and people I can get along with and learn from.

The position will have me learning a lot about search marketing, mostly helping to pull data and learning the ropes in the beginning. The great thing for me is that they also have volunteer groups that get together to talk about other digital marketing categories, like mobile and social media, so I can still continue to learn about social while learning something entirely new with search. Although this position is an internship, it’s on a fast-track program to becoming a salaried position, and the company says that 99% of interns do so within a three to six month time period.

People also love to hear that I found this internship through a Villanova alumni. I had shadowed him and the company he works for as part of the Boston Villanova Alumni Chapter’s Take a ‘Cat to Work Day in January and continued to keep in touch. We had lunch a few weeks ago, and he suggested I apply to the internship program, and that he would send my materials into HR.

I’m extremely happy to be starting with the company, but I must say I’m a little weird to be starting as an intern. There is a bottle of Veuve Clicquot I got as a Christmas present that I have been saving until I got a job. It has traveled with me from Westfield to ‘Nova to Westfield and now to Allston, and will likely move again before I am hired as a salaried employee. I contemplated opening it, to celebrate the liklihood of a job and a GIANT step in the right direction, but I decided I would appreciate it that much more when I have a real J-O-B.

Besides, more milestones to celebrate, the better!

Again, thanks everyone for your never ending support and I hope you continue with me on my journey as I start working full time.
