Congratulations to ME!
I’ve made it to my 50th post this week- and I just thought I’d share a few things I’ve learned about blogging along the way.
1- Consistency is important. I’ve found out that telling myself I HAVE to post on Sundays and Wednesdays has made me be consistent with my posts. It really doesn’t matter if your content is great, if you don’t consistently post, people won’t check back to see what you’re writing.
2- In order to be consistent, you have to write posts (or at least have some pre-written posts) ahead of time. The ability to plan ahead, although not as natural as free-writing about what is currently going on in my head, has made a huge impact on my ability to be consistent. I generally write my posts the weekend before (FYI it’s 8pm on Saturday technically when I’m writing this) to be able to deliver on time, every time.
3- Taking a break, and coming back to a post, like most other creative assignments, is the best way to figure out what’s wrong. I know for some of my posts, I’ll spend a lot of time writing them, and then I will miss grammar mistakes because I was brainwashed reading the post over too much. Stopping, coming back a few hours or days later, and then re-reading, will give you a fresh look.
4- Most of all, I’ve learned that I need the support of my friends to continue and to improve. I really appreciate all of your kindness, page views, comments and retweets about what I post here on my blog.
To the next fifty! 🙂
Looking forward to many more….
