Life is Good Festival

So it’s no shock that I’m a big Life is Good fan, so when an old friend asked if anyone wanted to go to the festival, I was all in!

The Life is Good Festival is a two day music festival in Canton, Massachusetts which helps raise money for the Life is Good Playmakers, an organization that works towards helping children play.

The Festival boasted a terrific turnout- over 30,000 people attended in person and about another 30,000 tuned in online. Over the weekend the festival raised over $1M to go towards helping kids play!

I was able to see ALO, Trombone Shorty and Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, but other performances included Sara Barellies (SO sad I missed her) Michael Franti & Spearhead, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Ryan Montbleau Band (Go Nova!) as well as a lot of musical artists for kids.

Besides the excellent food and drink (seriously perfect consistency of frozen margaritas) there was also lots of room for play! It was an awesome day for all kids (young and old) to play ladderball, do potato sack racing and just have fun all day.

Here were some of my highlights:

ALO

ALO, who I had actually seen live before, began my fun day at the festival

Trombone Shorty was awesome- nothing like other music I’ve heard but well done and really entertaining. A lot of it is instrumental so I have a feeling I’m going to be a big fan of listening to him while working.

Jordan and I at the Festival, being photo bombed by the guy in the back.

John and Bert Jacobs introducing Dave & Tim- right before this they decided to throw signed frisbees into the audience– in the most intense way possible. I swear they went for multiple football fields whizzing past me.

Tim Reynolds and Dave Matthews performing at the Life is Good Festival 2012. It was an awesome show! Dave is extremely entertaining (albeit somewhat incoherent) but it was really funny to watch them interact.

Looking forward to going next year already!
