Become a Mentor with Levo League

This past weekend was the one year anniversary of my college graduation– it is crazy how fast time has flown!

I asked a LOT of questions over the last year, and I wouldn’t have survived with my sanity without all of my wonderful mentors. I haven’t actually ASKED any of them to be my mentor, but I would say I have a lot of them. Men and women, people I’ve worked with and people I haven’t, a mentor is anyone I go to for advice or to bounce an idea off.

I can be indecisive. So I ask a lot of people. 🙂

During my senior year I asked my good friends from my study abroad program (affectionately called the Magnificent Seven) TONS and TONS of questions about what I should do next. They were always there to give me suggestions, look over my resume, and to keep telling me to keep my chin up.

Recently, I had the opportunity to be on the other side of things. A student of my past sales professor was applying to a social media position and was looking for some help on what she might get asked on an interview. I had probably a half hour conversation with her, telling her what I would look for in an answer to specific questions, helping her to prep for her call a few hours later. It was really rewarding to know I could have a hand in helping this girl fulfill her dream.

With this in mind, I wanted to tell you about an opportunity with a great new organization and site called Levo League. Made exclusively for Gen Y women looking to progress in the workplace and find their dream jobs, the site allows you to look for jobs, be sought out for jobs, network with others, read some great content and even hang out with some pretty influential women.

The site is making mentoring possible for everyone. For those recent grads who don’t have the Magnificent Seven available to help them, they can now find a role model of their own. Called their Mentorship Match initiative, its goal is to match new grads with female role models 3-8 years out of college to get advice from and connect to in their industry or city.

So Camp Glenbrook campers, Magnificent Seven, and everyone in between- I encourage you to sign up at Levo League for your own good, and to volunteer for their program to share your wonderful advice with those making the difficult transition from college.

For those of my friends who just graduated, sign up for a mentor! While I am always here to have a conversation, it never hurts to have more connections and more people rooting for you. If you can’t wait for a mentor- there’s also some great advice on this microsite for new grads  found at graduation.levoleague.com– filled with tools for your career and your life.

Ready to sign up? Create an account at www.levoleague.com and specify whether you’re a new grad who wants a mentor or a young pro wanting to share your wisdom with a little whipper snapper.

I’d love to hear if you signed up! Let me know in a comment!
