With some help from peer pressure, I decided maybe a month ago that I needed to take the GMAT in May. One, they say the closer you take it to being in/graduation from college, the easier it is to get into studying and test-taking mode, and the more likely the concepts of Geometry and Algebra will come back to you. In addition, they’re adding another section in June to the GMAT (don’t ask me what it is, I just know I don’t want to study more things 🙂 ).
The problem is that I really don’t have a whole lot of  motivation. With a suggested study amount of ten hours over ten weeks, it’s like having a work-study on top of my full time job. There are also so many other things I would rather do with that ten hours a week. Not ONLY fun things, like going to dinner or watching TV, but focusing on my blog or learning some of the other tools MORE relevant to my current position.
I also don’t plan to go back to school for around three or more years. Will getting an MBA be relevant for someone in social media? Could I decide going back to school isn’t for me? Will graduate programs stop wanting GMAT scores (not likely)? Will I just be wasting 100 hours of my time and $250 dollars? Gosh I hope not.
The moral of this story is that sometimes we have to do things that we don’t want to do because it might help us in the future. Goodness knows I’m a planner, so this makes sense, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
So sorry, classes at the gym, restaurants to be eaten at, and blog posts to be written, but I have a pretty limited schedule until May 19th. Hope you understand, I’ll do my best to do it all!
