Albeit late, this is my 100th post.
While I was able to blog much faster from fifty to one hundred than the previous fifty (thanks to my stage of unemployment) it has become quite difficult again to stay on top of my posts. Although I love social media and blogging, it is difficult after spending an eight hour day (blogging about social media and the like) to come home and do it all again on my own time.
Other reasons why blogging after work is tough: (Note: Not as a means of excuses, but so others can understand they are not alone in their blogging struggles).
- I’m tired. THE excuse for everything.
- I should go to the gym. Some days I really do go. I’m working on trying to get up before work and run so I don’t have it hanging over me all day. Exercising in the morning also tends to wake me up!
- There are people to meet. As a new member of the Boston professional world, I try to jump at opportunities to make new friends and contacts. Whether its drinks at a bar in town or a networking reception, my immediate needs are to know more people.
- My show is on. After living the summer without cable, I have a new found love and appreciation for television and DVR! Even when I may have plans one night, I can catch up on my shows the next night, thus taking more time out of my day.
Like most people, I want to leave work at work, but it just isn’t that easy. Part of why I was hired in the position I currently hold was my passion outside of the workplace for what I do. While work experience is a vital part of finding the a job, passion is something that may take you above your competitors with similar backgrounds. The fact that I not only enjoy social media and have a marketing education, but truly live social media, takes my qualifications to the next level.
But blogging means more to me than helping my professional life. I enjoy writing, having my own opinion, and having my thoughts in the interwebs for people to read and hopefully identify with.
Therefore, my plan is to post once a week with GREAT content. I would rather take the time to post one great thing than a few mediocre things. A post a week, I can do that.
Until next time…
SMITUS!!!
Congrats girl!
This post basically describes my life in a nutshell. While I am not a blogger, I find myself using the same “excuses” for not doing things at night (like studying for the CPA exam….). I also have just started doing the workout-in-the-morning thing. Woot woot!
Miss you!
