East Coast Earthquake

1- I’m fine. I didn’t even feel anything! Although I work in a very tall building in Boston (and normally I feel the building move a little when it’s storming outside) for some reason I didn’t feel a gosh darn thing.

But everyone started messaging me about it. When  I returned to my desk after being at a meeting, I had multiple text messages, a few gchat messages, and a call/voicemail/email from my worried (and loving!) father.

I have friends in the DC area, so my immediate concern was to reach out to them, but of course, it took awhile.

Luckily, social media saves the day.

A simple tweet or post on Facebook saves you from responding to EVERYONE and their mother who calls you. But seriously, even my friend’s Mom in DC put that Ali was okay in her Facebook status because you could tell a lot of people were asking.

While Android and iPhones were having trouble on cell towers for both Verizon and AT&T, Blackberry’s BBM helped those users reach one another quickly. Finally, a reason to buy a Blackberry (I couldn’t think of any before 😉 )

But the best part of course were a few people’s reactions to spoof the event. While dangerous to do with natural disasters, I can’t help but laugh.

Over the new thing.

Never forget.
